Pure O: Managing Intrusive Thoughts and Finding Peace

Introduction

Hi, I’m Charles Linden. Pure O, or Purely Obsessional OCD, can be incredibly challenging because it involves intense intrusive thoughts without the visible compulsions typically associated with OCD. This can make it feel isolating and difficult to explain to others. I know how overwhelming these thoughts can be, and through my experience, I found strategies to remove them. Today, I want to share those insights to help you find real relief.

Understanding Pure O

  • What is Pure O?
Pure O involves persistent, distressing thoughts or images (obsessions) without the outward compulsions like handwashing or checking that many associate with OCD. These thoughts are usually anxiety-inducing and seem impossible to stop.
  • Recognising Symptoms
    • Intrusive Thoughts: Distressing thoughts, often involving fears of harm, contamination, or doubts about relationships, sexuality or morality. These thoughts are often terrifying and go against your beliefs and wishes.
    • Mental Compulsions: While there may not be visible actions, those with Pure O might engage in mental rituals like repeating phrases, mentally reviewing events, or seeking internal reassurance.

Common Questions

  • Why are these thoughts so intense?
Intrusive thoughts often feel powerful because they are triggered by the brain’s fear response, causing the conscious mind to “hold on” to them.
  • Can these thoughts ever go away?
Yes, they will be removed using the science of the core disorder. I will show you how to, very quickly, erase the process that causes them.
  • Will I always feel this way?
No, none of my clients over the last 26 years have held onto these thoughts once we have removed the disorder.

Causes and Triggers

  • Underlying Causes
    • Pure O is linked to heightened fear response. The more we try to “push away” these thoughts, the stronger they become.
  • Common Triggers
    • High-stress situations, periods of major life change, or even daily uncertainties can act as triggers, making intrusive thoughts more frequent and intense.

My Journey and How I Can Help You

When I was struggling, intrusive thoughts dominated my mind. Wherever I was, whatever I was doing they were, pretty much, always there. Now that I understand them and their context as part of the fear response I am able to show you how to be free of them quickly and permanently. I’m here to guide you to regain control over your mind and experience the peace you deserve.

Conclusion

Pure O may feel isolating, but with these techniques, you can remove the intrusive thoughts and create a calmer, more peaceful mind.
